Settling In....

We have now been here 2+weeks and are settling in. We find ourselves going back and forth between it feeling "normal" and then "crazy" that we are living here. All in all it is really good.

The kids continue to embrace all that they are experiencing. I think that is what is giving us the most joy - watching our kids become comfortable, even confident, in such a different setting. I was watching Mackenzie the other day engage a furniture salesman on the side of the road where we stopped to buy a bed frame. There, against a sea of black faces, was my 10 year old daughter chatting away with the carpenter. I realize more and more that they will be bridges between the developed and the developing world for a life time as a result of our time here already.

We are off tomorrow to visit a World Vision project that will give Molly and the kids a good sense of the real Africa and the work we are apart of. From there we will be driving down to southern Zambia to Camp/Fish/See the big animals on the Zambezi River. (The Zambezi river is what creates Victoria Falls, the largest waterfall in the world.)

We are still lacking internet access at home (but hope to have it next week) so we are still limited in our communication. We will have pictures up one way or another next week. We know that words can only communicate so much.

We continue to be grateful for the gift of being here and for all that it is doing in us and to us. Thanks for being with us in spirit.

The Dykstra Fam.

p.s. We have loved the notes from many of you. The news from home, big and small, allows us to feel connected to you.
